Become — Privacy Policy

🟢 The short version: Your habit data — identities, habits, logs, reflections — never leaves your device, and no account is required. We use one privacy-focused analytics SDK to see anonymous, aggregate usage patterns (never your habit content); you can opt out any time in Settings. We make money from subscriptions — not from your data.

1. Information We Collect

Become collects no personal information. The app does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or share any identifying details.

All data you enter — identities, habits, focus seasons, completion history, weekly reflections, and preferences — is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We have no access to any of it and cannot read, recover, or reconstruct it.

Separately, the app sends anonymous, aggregate usage signals (see Section 3) to help us understand which features are used — this never includes the content of your habits, identities, or reflections.

2. How Your Data Is Stored

Your habit data is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData (Core Data) framework. It is:

  • Private by default — other apps cannot read it
  • Backed up automatically if you use iCloud Backup (controlled entirely by your Apple account settings)
  • Deleted when you delete the app
  • Never transmitted to any server operated by us or third parties

If you use Home Screen widgets, a small subset of your habit data is shared with the widget extension via a secure App Group container, entirely on-device. This data never leaves your iPhone.

3. Third-Party Services

Become uses one third-party SDK: TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service. It collects anonymous, aggregate usage signals — which screens are viewed, which features are used, onboarding completion, paywall interactions — never the content of your habits, identities, notes, or reflections, and never your name, email, or payment details.

  • Your device identity is one-way hashed before it ever leaves your device — it cannot be reversed back to you
  • No IP address is stored
  • Never sold, never used for advertising
  • You can opt out at any time in the app: Settings → App → "Share Anonymous Analytics"

We do not use Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Segment, Facebook SDK, Google Analytics, Sentry, or any advertising network. The only other external service used is Apple's StoreKit for in-app purchase processing — governed entirely by Apple's own privacy policy.

✅ No ad networks, no crash reporters that read personal data, no data sold to anyone — one opt-out analytics SDK that never sees your habit content.

4. Push Notifications

Become can send local push notifications (habit reminders, streak celebrations, morning motivation). These notifications are:

  • Scheduled entirely on-device using Apple's UNUserNotificationCenter
  • Never sent through external push notification servers
  • Fully optional — you can toggle each type on or off in Settings within the app
  • Never used to deliver advertising or third-party content

5. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

Become offers optional premium subscriptions (monthly, yearly, and lifetime). All purchase transactions are processed exclusively by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect or store:

  • Payment information (Apple handles all of this)
  • Purchase history (managed by your Apple ID)
  • Billing address or personal details

6. Children's Privacy

Become does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Because we collect no personal data from anyone — and the anonymous analytics described in Section 3 cannot identify an individual user — there is no special risk to younger users. The app is appropriate for all ages. If you are a parent or guardian with concerns, please contact us.

7. Your Rights

Since we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to delete, export, or modify on our end. Your data lives on your device. You control it completely:

  • Export your data: Settings → Export Your Data, available to everyone free of charge
  • Delete your data: Delete individual habits and identities in-app, or delete the Become app from your iPhone to remove everything
  • Opt out of analytics: Settings → App → "Share Anonymous Analytics"
  • Opt out of notifications: Settings → Notifications → Become (or within the app's Settings screen)

If you are a resident of the EU/EEA (GDPR) or California (CCPA), the above confirms that we meet these regulations' requirements because we hold no personal data on servers and perform no processing of personal information.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of Become after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

We will never introduce data collection without explicit notice and your consent.
